Selecting, moving and resizing

How to pick objects, move them precisely, and resize them without stretching.

Selecting, moving and resizing

Selecting

  • Click an object on the design area — or its row in the layers list — to select it.
  • Shift-click to add another object to the selection.
  • Click the empty design area to deselect.

When more than one object is selected, common properties show in the properties panel; unique properties show as "mixed".

Moving

  • Drag with the mouse.
  • Use the arrow keys to nudge one pixel at a time.
  • Hold Shift + arrow to nudge ten pixels.
  • Set X and Y directly in the properties panel for exact placement.

Resizing

  • Drag the handles on the bounding box.
  • Hold Shift while dragging a corner to keep the aspect ratio locked.
  • Set width and height directly in the properties panel for exact sizes.

Locking

Lock a layer to prevent accidental drag or resize. Locked layers still render; they just refuse to be edited on the design area. Handy for backgrounds.

Z-order

Reorder via the layers list, or use Bring forward / Send back from the right-click menu. The renderer paints from bottom of the list up.
