Connecting to broadcast tools

Browser-source settings for the common tools (vMix, OBS, TriCaster, Wirecast).

Connecting to broadcast tools

All supported tools can use the output URL as a browser source. The steps vary in naming but not in principle.

vMix

  • Add → Web Browser.
  • URL: the output's public URL.
  • Width / Height: match the output's resolution.
  • Background: transparent (check "Pre-multiply alpha" if colors look off).

OBS Studio

  • Add → Browser.
  • URL: the output's public URL.
  • Width / Height: match the output's resolution.
  • Custom CSS: leave blank.
  • "Shutdown source when not visible": off — you do not want the graphics to reset every time the scene changes.

TriCaster

  • Input → NDI (if OBS/vMix is sending NDI) or a network browser-source input if you have one.
  • Key the output over the program feed with its alpha channel.

Wirecast

  • Add media → Web Page.
  • URL: the output's public URL.
  • Enable transparency in the web-page source settings.

Troubleshooting

  • Black background behind graphics — transparency is off on the browser source.
  • Graphics flicker on scene change — "shutdown when not visible" is on; turn it off.
  • Graphics look blurry — browser-source resolution is lower than the output.
  • Graphics lag — the broadcast tool is CPU-bound; lower the browser-source framerate or run the tool on more powerful hardware.
