Editing data live

Sometimes you need to fix a typo or swap a value during the show. The control panel has a built-in data editor for exactly this.

Opening the editor

• Pick the layer.
• Click the dataset name or press E on the keyboard.
• A modal opens with the current row's values.

Editing

• Change a field, then Save. The change persists to the dataset.
• If the layer is on air, the on-air graphic updates as soon as save completes.
• Close the modal with Esc.

Only this row

The editor only touches the current row of a list dataset, or the single record of an object dataset. You cannot add or remove rows from here — that happens on the dataset page.

Permissions

An operator can edit dataset values by default. If your operators must not touch data, create a read-only copy of the dataset and point the layer at it, or tighten permissions via dataset assignments.
